Inspired Teen Services

At Unified Inspirational Counseling, LLC, it is our mission to help teens reach their full potential.  All too often many of us live in fear that our teens will not be successful due to negative influences, peer pressures and struggles in connecting with their peer group. As Parents we want to give them the best, work tirelessly to provide for them, give them leeway to have fun; yet this lurking fear that they are disconnecting from us can be overwhelming. U.I.C. has continuously been successful in helping youth struggling with boundaries, grades, self-esteem, following rules, addiction, mental health, and physical health issues. U.I.C. seeks to treat the whole person so that your teen may develop the goals he or she needs to be productive in your home, at their school and while with their friends.

Individual Counseling

Unified Inspirational Counseling, LLC is highly skilled in working with teens who have challenging behaviors and attitudes. The core of U.I.C.'s model is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in which we seek to understand, from the teen's perspective, what they see in the world. We want to give them the necessary tools to be able to respond appropriately. CBT is the best method to help teens understand how their negative actions impact not only their own lives but the lives around them. Through this model, teens learn healthy communication skills, how to keep a structured schedule, responsibility for self and others, and how to engage in healthy relationships.

Your teen will come to truly understand how he or she can hold themselves accountable and responsible without the feelings of shame or embarrassment. It helps teens boost self-confidence so that they may be able to respond to their world around them in a positive way.

Interactive Activities

Unified Inspirational Counseling, LLC seeks to engage your teen in fun filled activities that allows them to express themselves in a positive manner among other teens that also want to experience life responsibly. Far too often are our teens glued to their phones and other electronic devices which can account for many of our youth's issues of laziness, lack of drive and loss of focus. U.I.C.'s activities challenges your teen to remove him or herself from their electronic devices to know again what it means to be a teen without the constraints of social media.

RAISING TEENS AND HOW TO TALK TO THEM

Change is hard—especially when it's going on inside of your teen. The teenage years are an explosive period of development, and often, kids reach physical maturity before the parts of their brain that regulate mood and impulse control are fully formed. Outbursts, grumpiness, and poor choices can result. The occasional mood swing isn't cause for alarm if they're getting healthy food, sleep, and social connection generally; however, speaking with your teen about how they feel can make the world of difference.

Focus on Listening

Sometimes, parents, in their enthusiasm to make a point or get the conversation going, may launch into a monologue without realizing it. Flip that dynamic by making sure you're giving them the opportunity to speak. Pay attention to how much you're talking and, if it's anywhere near 50%, aim to cut down on your airtime. Let them talk, ask them open-ended questions, and be interested in what they have to say.

WHY IS IT

SO DIFFICULT?
